Terrorist Activity in IITR...!!!
Our dear Ali Da was seen with some unidentified persons, speculated to be a part of some uncompromising activities in the activities in the campus. Widely doubted as a growing power of terrorism, people have been warned about such activities. Here we give you a proof of our Ali Da's association with such a group. We are awaiting response from Ali Da ( or is it his real name ?! )

KanchWala Glass : Sharp and Hygiene

With the economic recession rendering many jobless in the campuses, start-ups have become the new fashion in campuses. IITR isn't left out in giving opportunities to the jobless.Techbuddy, ZignDog, and MyInnoSpace have begun operations.
After the exams, our dear Ali Da, sitting idle was pondering over the success of startups and also of his future. The best thing he can bank on ( more than his CG ) is his family business. Thus he gave birth to KanchWala Glass (KWG). The founder and CEO hasn't disclosed his strategy and operations plans, fearing the copy of his intellectual masterpiece. However, the Archimaniacs Times have been able to squeez out some information from, VV Sahib and Khetan, the directors of R&D of KWG. " We intended to bring out a new breed of glass through our innovative and sophiscated technologies. Guns made of this glass shall be the allies of the soldiers. Bullets of this glass shall be sharper and more hygienic. We shall live upto our motto, our principle of providing safe and hygienic glass bullets. As the glass is lighter than metal, the KWG bullets shall be faster and shall cover more distance. We are planning to supply the KWG glass to LeT, and Al Qaeda, the close associates of our CEO. LTTE have approached us. The deal is still in the pipeline."
Rumours are out that Katrina Kaif and Osama Bin Laden will be the brand ambassadors of KWG.
The confidence and the technical strength KWGs team have seems unbounded. It seems that KWG is going to be the way of life.
AFL Postponed indefinitely - After exams, no time.
The AFL Matches have been postponed indefinitely due to the poor response from 2nd yearites. Amidst the preparations to go home ( and also to Ila Gupta's house for chapo ), the 2nd yearites kept AFL at low priority. Moreover, Chowky Dhani captain Sandeep was leaving for home on 14th. These factors have led the other captains, Maggi and Mallu Annan, to cancel the matches for the day and postpone AFL indefinitely ( may be to next sem ).
Anything else we can play ????
Archimaniacs Football League - Day 1 : Falling Waters Floors All...!!!
At last Maggi gets things right...!!!
Though Futuristic and Fantastic Architecture showed no future or wasn't fantastic, the first day matches showed a bright future and was fantastic in its own way. The games started late, after the thesis proposal dilemma's and some technical complexities.
First one was between Burj-Al-United led by Mallu Annan, and Maggi's Falling Waters. The Burj-Al-United were the stronger team on paper, and easily the best contender to win the league. With the likes of Satz, Chimmu, SPS and Shanky on their side, United started strongly with a tough angle strike from the skipper. However, United couldn't capitalise on the lead. Soon the Maggi and Khetan struck to give FW ( with Ponga, Golu and Chota Rathi ) the lead. Just before the half time, Mallu Annan saw blood when Chota Rathi's hand hit the former's nose. In the second half, Khetan doubled the leave. Couple of minutes later, Mallu Annan struck to close in the gap. But Maggi and Khetan closed the game with one each. United Lost to FW, 2-5.
The Second match was between Chowki Dhani and FW, which saw more heroics from Maggi and Khetan. The match went on late, with the players finding it difficult to track the ball in dim light. ( Even I wasn't able to keep track of the game ) FW won the match 5-3.
Atlast something to cheer for Maggi. He won both matches through some good team work and precise passing. Not everything goes wrong for this chap.

A Tribute to Design...

Richard Bobbers is always in the thick of things. Arguably the most enthusiastic person of B. Arch IVth year, has touched everyone's hearts through his after-design idea ( though in vain ) and this beautiful, "dramatic" and touching poster. Great work dear friend. The vain and frustrating design attempts shall remain in our hearts for ever.
I think it is the right time to pay tribute to the Design classes and Design exams. We invite entries from one and all. Share your design (class or submission) moments.
P.S. : People with access, please add something. Those who don't have accees get hold of one the people who is having access or mail one of us.

Archimaniacs Premier League :Day 2 - FLWs v/s Fosters : Chimmu gets a chance...!!!
Joining Calatravas for the finals, FLWs decided to give their reserved players some match practice. Thus Chimmu got his first entry to the pitch. Mallu Annan plays. Nishith and Raju were made to sit out.

May 8th, 2009 : Xclusive Report from Special Correspondent Maddu Machan, Reporting direct from Courtyard Grounds, Ravindra Bhawan.
The game was just a formality. Four overs to each team, both team were to use their unused potentials. Golu got his first over of the tournament. Chimmu made the opportunity to good extent. Highlight of the match was the six Chimmu banged over Golu. The FLW innings ended with the runout of Mallu Annan, due to a terrible misunderstanding between Mallu Annan and Chimmu. But by then they had put a competitive 31 on board.
FLW captain, Shanky used all the resources for the match. Mallu Annan checked his yorkers and full tosses, with some extra pace. He was dispatched all around the ground by Maggi, something for the latter to cheer about. Divyesh and Chimmu were used, and Fosters reached victory in the 3rd over with quite an ease. But they were already out of the tournament. The match got over at 15mins past 7pm. Very late for Ravindra Cricket.
Final is to be played on May 11, 2009 at 1615hrs.
Anti Climax
After the match, Maggi and Raju got on to a hustle, with Maggi almost pounding Raju (:O). This was an after effect to the run out decision given against the Calatrava Captain. His runout and failure in the APL mounted to his miseries from Fantasy League.
Chill my friend, there is always a next chance.

Archimaniacs Premier League : Day 2 - Calatravas vs Fosters - Super Over...!!!
Fosters had to win this match if they have to have any chance of reaching the finals. Their Body Language speaked volumes of their determination as well as Desperation. Maggi didn't want to repeat the failures if Fantasy League on ground.
May 8th, 2009 : Xclusive Report from Special Correspondent Maddu Machan, Reporting direct from Courtyard Grounds, Ravindra Bhawan.
Umpired by Mallu Annan with Borat + Chimmu at square leg, the match got underway with shadows lengthening. Fosters came up with a good show, with spinners from Ali Da and Maggi restricting Fosters to 43, again Khetan n Ponga making the scores.
Things were good and easy till then. But the umpriring errors were extrapolated in the second innings, especially from the square leg. Borat was busy describing his days in US and life with Pam, while Chimmu missed his African Trees. They forgot that they were joint square leg umpires, and their random noball decisions were controversial. Match refree, Shanky made a quick decision and made Raju was made the square leg umpire. Everything seemed to be back to normal. But cricket is very funny game, my fellas. A controversial hit wicket appeal against Maggi was put down by Raju for Maggi's favour. The Fosters were agitated. Raju made a couple of errors, like giving a full toss as a noball ( which I think wasn't one ). Things caught fire, when Raju upheld a run out decision against Maggi. Agitated Maggi almost broke the bat on the ground. A fuming Maggi left the pitch. To cool down things, match referee Shanky came up as the Square leg umpire. Even he couldn't escape errors, and he denied a beamer appeal from Fosters. Things were getting real bad. At the same time, the popping crease umpire, Mallu Annan was tested a couple of times, but the experienced umpire kept his cool, making no errors.
Now lets talk more of the game. After Maggi's departure, Fosters batting became dismal. Needing 5 from the last over, Caltravas turned to Khetan instead of the then purple cap holder SPS. Khetan got the ball to right places and just conceded 4 runs in the over. That gave the first tie of APL.
Now the super over. Hope I don't have to detail the rules of Super Over. Everyone must have heard of the Super Over between KKR n RR, where Yousuf Pathan dispatch Ajanta Mendis to all corners of the ground.
For Calatravas , Khetan is going to ball. Facing them will be Golu, Ali Da and Maggi.
Khetan got Golu in his third ball. Maggi's six of the last ball took them to a respectable 10 runs from the over.
For Fosters, Maggi took the ball. Sandy, Khetan, and Ponga was to carry the bat. Maggi castled Sandy the very first ball. Trouble for Calatravas ?!?! Fosters saw the distant entry to the finals. But Khetan had other plans. Consecutive fours from Khetan in the 3rd and the 4th balls, sealed the game for them. Maggi followed it up with a wide.
Calatravas won. Fosters out of the competition. Maggi left the field fuming.
Archimaniacs Premier League : Day 2 - Match 1 : Calatrava's v/s FLWs - Borat Strikes...!!!
May 8th, 2009 : Xclusive Report from Special Correspondent Maddu Machan, Reporting direct from Courtyard Grounds, Ravindra Bhawan.
The Match started late due to the POA exam of the 2nd yearites. It started at 15 minutes past 5pm.
Tired after the " long " landscaping exam, FLW's start bowler Mallu Annan slept off. He didn't pick up the calls from the FLW Captain. SPS, the joint purple cap holder was assigned to wake him up and make sure that Mallu reports on time. SPS took advantage of the situation, Didn't wake up the star slinger who was threatening the position of the purple cap holders. However Mallu woke up from the honey dew slumber, and rushed to the pavilion of Courtyard grounds.
For by then Shanky had found a faithful replacement for Mallu, in Borat, who was back from his very successful US Trip. Mallu had sit out. He joined the Team Manager Chimmu to support the team.
FLW had to win this match to almost secure a place in the finals ( as they had a superior Run Rate than Fosters ).
Taking the cause by both hands the FLWs batted with hearts of Lions. The orange Cap holder, surprise package Divyesh led from the front, with useful contribution from Raju n Samba. They put up a score of 57 on board. It was a competitive score, but the FLWs were facing the undefeated Calatravas who have the likes of Khetan n Ponga in their likes. But the story was supposed to be something else. Early strikes from Shanky n Samba left Caltrava's stuttering at 11 for the loss of 3 wickets at the end of 2 overs. Adding to the miseries, Raju castled SPS at the end of a way ward over.
But still Khetan at crease means trouble for FlWs. He pushed the ball here and there and was making runs at ease. Everyone scorned when Shanky handed the ball to Raju for the 6th over, with Calatrava's needing 13 from 12 balls. Shanky knew the man. In the second ball of the match, Khetan lofted the air to long off. Every one expected Borat, the long on to grass the ball, but he held on to the ball comfortably. Borat Strikes...!!! FLWs towards the finals...!!!
